1: What was life like before sailing full-time?
A: Khi and I both had full time office jobs in Melbourne Australia – Khi was an Administrative assistant and i was an Engineer.
2: What brought you to sailing?
A: I had grown up on sailboats and had done some racing with my dad for as long as i can remember, once i moved away for university i stopped sailing. Once Khi and i decided to take on this adventure we started racing and chartering to get back up to speed before we took the plunge and flew to the US to buy the Falcon.
3: What is your relationship like with sailing? Things you love/hate about sailing?
A: I love sailing, Khi enjoys the travel aspect of the sailing as apposed to the mere sailing.
4: What’s something you wish more of your audience knew more about?
A: Just how much hard work goes on when the camera is off. I think lots of people think these videos make themselves and were out here on a never ending vacation. I love this lifestyle and making videos, but i do consider it a job as well and sometimes it’s tough.
5: Any advice for new or would-be sailors?
A: learn to notice things. sailing is 90% noticing things. a luffing sail or a odd rumble in the engine. If you become hyper aware of whats going on around you you can often catch things before they become a problem. No one ever got in trouble for being too well prepared.
6: Out of all the places you’ve sailed, what location is your favorite?
A: the sailing itself isn’t the best, but the Azores were incredibly beautiful and the people were lovely.
7: How long do you plan to sail as a full-time endeavor?
A: As long as i can keep food on the table and the boat afloat. I consider this a career now. We will have to evolve, expand and change with the times but sailing and sailboats are a pretty big part of my life now.
8: Any hobbies outside of sailing?
A: Khiara considers varnishing her hobby? Does than count.
9: A convenience onboard that you can’t live without?
A: It sounds really lame but the Dewalt multi tool is something that i use often… ours broke for a while and there was no other tool that i more often wished i had. Khi would answer her memory foam mattress overlay.
10: YouTube has been a little dicey lately. How can readers and viewers reach you and your content if something happens?
A: Pray that YT doesn’t die! Its hosting all of the videos if it goes they go with it! you can also find us at sailingmillennialfalcon.com [and] patreon.com/Sailingmillennialfalcon
